Even when we are away on holiday, there are still opportunities for photoshoots. Here are a few we took while on holiday in Pembrokeshire earlier this month.

July was a pretty good month for awards from The Society of Wedding and Portrait Photographers monthly competition. Regular visitors to this blog will know that the SWPP runs monthly competitions in a variety of categories to encourage it’s members to submit examples of their work for scrutiny. This helps to keep us on our toes and discourage complacency if nothing else! What it means is that each photograph is given a grade ranging from Unclassified (awful) to Bronze, Silver and Gold. The Gold awards are published in the Society magazine and are entered into the annual competition, whereas the Silver awards are reviewed at the end of the year and may get upgraded to Gold. We don’t speak about the Bronze and Unclassifieds!
Anyway, This month i managed a Gold Award in the landscape with the shot i mentioned on this blog recently, ‘Tumult in the Clouds’. Here it is again….

We also got two Silver Awards. Here is the first, which was taken at Jessica and Neil’s wedding in Clavering Church. This shot was pre planned many weeks before and i organised it on the day. It just goes to show that Proper Preparation Prevents Poor Performance!

Finally, another landscape type picture which got a Silver Award in the Pictorial Category. This picture was taken in Whitstable, Kent. I plan to visit Whitstable again to do some location portraiture. But that’s in the future.
