Alison and Mike’s Wedding at Gosfield Hall.

_DSC3066

We always enjoy being the wedding photographers for weddings at Gosfield Hall and Alison and Mike’s wedding was no exception.  Despite the cold and foggy weather, the festive decorations and roaring log fire made the wedding a bit more special.

Gosfield Hall is a fantastic and prestigious venue which is a perfect choice for weddings. Most of the photography was done in the warm, except for a brief excursion outside for a group photo and for the fireworks display in the evening.

Here are a few of the images……..

More images from Vicki & Adam’s Wedding at South Farm.

I have just finished working on the images i took at Vicki and Adam’s wedding at South Farm, near Royston and thought i would put a few more out on the blog.

South Farm is a great venue which offers a lot of fantastic photo opportunities, hence the delay in finishing the portfolio – there was just so many good ones and i can’t resist working on them until i am completely happy i have done a good job. The post production work i do on photoshop is time consuming, but it is definitely worth it, as i hope you will agree with this selection of pictures…..

SWPP Monthly Competition Winners

I am always pleased to get a result from the pictures i enter into the Society of Wedding and Portrait Photographers monthly competition and last month i received a Gold and two Silver awards.

The Gold Award was won in the Landscape Category, which is my most successful category so far. The picture was take at Carew Castle in Diane’s home county of Pembrokeshire.

The two Silver Awards will be eligible to be reconsidered and possibly upgraded to Gold at the end of the year, so fingers crossed for that. One of the Silver Awards was taken at Karen and James’ wedding at The Felix Hotel in Cambridge in early September and was entered in the Bridal Portraiture Category. This is one of the hardest categories to achieve a Gold, so i am pleased to get a Silver. It was featured on the blog earlier this month, but here it is again…..

Finally, i got a Silver Award in the Architectural Category for this next shot taken in Glasgow City Centre during a recent visit. I was on my way to visit Gordon McGowan, who is one of the best wedding photographers in the country. I had stayed overnight in the lake district and took some great landscape photos, (which i have yet to begin working on and may well be entered in future competitions). I then stopped at Glasgow City and took a series of architectural images before heading up to Loch Lomond. I then spent the following day in Gordon McGowan’s studio and had a great time and learned loads of new stuff. In fact, i must confess that the bridal picture above is inspired by that day. All in all, i had a great weekend’s photography and to get some competition winners from it just adds to the enjoyment. Here is the Glasgow picture……..

Vicki and Adam’s Wedding at South Farm, near Royston.

On Friday, we were at the exquisite venue of South Farm, near Royston to photograph Vicki and Adam’s wedding. The weather was perfect sunshine all day, which meant that the happy couple were able to get married in the summer house across the pond in the South Farm gardens.

This was the first time we had covered a wedding at South Farm and we thoroughly enjoyed the day. The venue is beautiful and features an almost endless array of photo opportunities, so we couldn’t fail to get some great shots.

Our thanks go to Vicki and Adam for being such good models for us and also to their friends and families for their cooperation. Well done to Cecile for planning the wedding (and choosing us as the photographers!). Also a quick mention to the South Farm team for their help and the great food!

Here are a few of the pictures from the day. We would welcome your comments, so please feel free to use the comments feature at the bottom of the pictures…….

Alison and Mike’s Pre Wedding Photoshoot.

We are looking forward to photographing Alison and Mike’s wedding at Gosfield Hall in December. We always enjoy covering weddings at Gosfield Hall as it is a magnificent venue with plenty of beautiful photo opportunities.

Alison and Mike’s wedding sounds as though it is going to be a great day, with plenty of bridesmaids, flower girls and children as well as about 100 guests in attendance. We have been booked to photograph the whole day through to the evening party and being a December wedding, Gosfield Hall will be decorated for Christmas, so the pictures are going to look great.   We can’t wait!

For their Pre Wedding Photoshoot, i chose to photograph the couple before the end of summer and we spent some time on location this weekend to get some great shots. Here are a few of them…….

Karen and James’ wedding at St Mary’s, Great Shelford and The Felix Hotel, Cambridge.

Karen and James were married on Saturday in St Mary’s Church, Great Shelford in an intimate ceremony attended by their families and a few close friends.

Having only a few guests made our job much easier and we had a great time throughout the day, starting with pictures of James taken at his brother Rob’s house before heading off to find Karen at her home, who was ready in good time for her pictures. (Well done Karen!)

After the ceremony, we made a dash across town to The Felix Hotel for more pictures before the light began to fade. Many thanks to all the guests for their cooperation with our various antics. I know that some people find my requests a little strange on times, but i hope from these pictures that you can see what i have in mind at the time.

In the evening, over 90 guests arrived for the party and we made our exit shortly after the first dance. Karen and James are now off to enjoy a fantastic honeymoon in Hawaii.

Please feel free to leave a comment….

SWPP Awards for July

July was a pretty good month for awards from The Society of Wedding and Portrait Photographers monthly competition. Regular visitors to this blog will know that the SWPP runs monthly competitions in a variety of categories to encourage it’s members to submit examples of their work for scrutiny. This helps to keep us on our toes and discourage complacency if nothing else! What it means is that each photograph is given a grade ranging from Unclassified (awful) to Bronze, Silver and Gold. The Gold awards are published in the Society magazine and are entered into the annual competition, whereas the Silver awards are reviewed at the end of the year and may get upgraded to Gold. We don’t speak about the Bronze and Unclassifieds!

Anyway, This month i managed a Gold Award in the landscape with the shot i mentioned on this blog recently, ‘Tumult in the Clouds’. Here it is again….

We also got two Silver Awards. Here is the first, which was taken at Jessica and Neil’s wedding in Clavering Church. This shot was pre planned many weeks before and i organised it on the day. It just goes to show that Proper Preparation Prevents Poor Performance!

Finally, another landscape type picture which got a Silver Award in the Pictorial Category. This picture was taken in Whitstable, Kent. I plan to visit Whitstable again to do some location portraiture. But that’s in the future.

Karen and James are getting married!

I had the pleasure of photographing Karen and James last weekend in the run up to their wedding in September. They will be getting married at St Mary’s Church in Great Shelford with a reception at The Felix Hotel and i must say that i am really looking forward to it, if these pictures are anything to go by. Karen and James are keen to embrace the creative aspect of my work and take well to being directed, as these pictures clearly show.

I must admit that i almost rescheduled this shoot due to bad weather, but in the end we decided to risk a soaking and go for it. We had to do a bit of shower dodging, but we got through the shoot and only had to sacrifice a few poses i had planned. Well done, Karen and James!
